Cardgazer
is a neurofeedback game that utilizes NeuroSky’s MindWave Mobile EEG headset. “Visualize” playing cards with your mind and work quickly to clear the whole deck before time runs out! Maintain your attention to get a “hot streak” and be rewarded bonus time. Earn coins that can be exchanged for “mind boosts,” extra lives, unlocking “Meditation” mode, and alternative card decks! Can you learn to control your mind in order to become the Master Cardgazer?

REQUIREMENTS: Cardgazer requires MindWave Mobile (NeuroSky) or compatible device.

INSTRUCTIONS: Cardgazer utilizes a deck of standard playing cards. In the game, the player is shown a card from the backside and needs to focus their attention in order to reveal the card’s identity. As the player learns to focus mentally in a certain way, the face side of the card becomes visible. The player can clear the card to move on to the next one in one of two ways. Once the player is adequately able to determine the identity of the card, the player can enter the suit and rank of the card using buttons that appear on the left and right sides of the screen. The player can also “maximize” their attention, fully revealing the identity of the card, which will also clear the card. The goal is to clear all the cards in the deck within a certain amount of time before moving on to the next level.

Bonus time can be awarded by clearing cards while on a hot streak. A hot streak is achieved by clearing three cards in a row, each within 2 seconds of each other. Each level (which consists of clearing a full deck of cards) increases in difficulty, as it requires more focus each level in order to reveal the card. Along the way, the player is rewarded with achievements and coins. Coins can be exchanged for extra lives, mind boosts — which can be used to enhance your mental powers briefly to more quickly clear cards, alternative deck backgrounds, and unlocking “Meditation” mode. In Meditation mode, players must instead relax and clear their minds to reveal cards, as opposed to focusing in Attention mode.
